  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Butter a 9-inch round or square baking pan.
  2. In a heavy-duty saucepan, combine the cornstarch, lemon juice, and 1/2 cup sugar. Cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens.
  3. Remove from heat and gently fold in the strawberries.
  4. Transfer the strawberry mixture to the prepared baking dish and dot with the diced butter.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Cut in the 3 tablespoons cold butter until crumbly.
