Homemade Crockpot Teriyaki Chicken made with tender chicken simmered in a sweet, savory, and glossy teriyaki sauce, finished with sesame seeds and green onions.

Ingredients

  • For the chicken and sauce
  • 1.5 lb chicken breast, cubed
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • For the glaze
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • Toppings
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 3 tbsp green onions

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken into even 1-inch pieces.
  2. Mix soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Pour into crockpot with chicken and stir.
  4. Cook on HIGH 3 hours or LOW 5–6 hours.
  5. Remove chicken and simmer sauce in pan.
  6. Mix cornstarch slurry and whisk into sauce until thick.
  7. Return chicken to sauce and coat well.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

  • Low heat produces more tender chicken.
  • Fresh garlic and ginger improve flavor.
  • Simmer until glossy for best texture.
