Ingredients
Scale
1 lb ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup beef broth or water
1/4 cup milk (optional)
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
Add chopped onion and garlic to the beef and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
Spread the beef mixture evenly in the baking dish.
Layer sliced potatoes on top and season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
Sprinkle cheddar and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
Pour beef broth (or water) around the edges. Optionally add milk for extra creaminess.
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden and bubbly.
Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
Notes
Brown the beef well and drain fat for better flavor.
Slice potatoes evenly so they cook at the same rate.
Let casserole rest a few minutes before serving for cleaner slices.
Add vegetables like peas or carrots for extra nutrition.
