1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 cup water, divided
2 tablespoons honey
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon orange zest
1 lb ground turkey
2 teaspoons sesame oil
3 cups broccoli florets
1 small onion, diced
1 cup shredded carrots
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
In a saucepan, combine 3/4 cup water, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, honey, and brown sugar over medium heat.
Bring to a low boil.
Mix remaining water with cornstarch until dissolved, then stir into sauce until thickened.
Remove from heat and stir in orange zest.
Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Add onion and cook until softened.
Add ground turkey and cook until fully browned and internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Add broccoli and carrots and cook until tender.
Reduce heat and stir in teriyaki sauce, simmering briefly before serving.
Serve over rice or noodles if desired.
Notes
Ground chicken, pork, or beef can be substituted.
Add chili flakes or sriracha for heat.
Drain excess fat if using beef.
