  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup water, divided
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine 3/4 cup water, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, honey, and brown sugar over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a low boil.
  3. Mix remaining water with cornstarch until dissolved, then stir into sauce until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in orange zest.
  5. Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Add onion and cook until softened.
  7. Add ground turkey and cook until fully browned and internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  8. Add broccoli and carrots and cook until tender.
  9. Reduce heat and stir in teriyaki sauce, simmering briefly before serving.
  10. Serve over rice or noodles if desired.

Notes

  • Ground chicken, pork, or beef can be substituted.
  • Add chili flakes or sriracha for heat.
  • Drain excess fat if using beef.
  • Extra vegetables like bell peppers or snow peas can be added.
  • Adjust sauce thickness with water if needed.
