Kentucky Derby Pie Recipe: A gooey concoction that’s like a cross between pecan pie & a chocolate chip cookie. Such an indulgent treat!

Ingredients

  • ½ batch (85 g) pie crust, or storebought pie shell
  • 1 cup (220 g) light brown sugar, loosely packed
  • ½ cup (62.5 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (113.5 g) unsalted butter, melted but cooled slightly
  • 2 large eggs (88 g)
  • 1 teaspoon (4 g) vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon (3 g) kosher salt
  • 1 cup (144 g) chopped nuts, such as walnuts or pecans
  • 1 cup (180 g) semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Roll pie dough slightly larger than dish, transfer, trim, fold, and crimp edges.
  3. Weigh bottom with pie weights or beans and bake 20 minutes.
  4. Mix brown sugar, flour, and melted butter in large bowl.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each.
  6. Stir in vanilla and salt.
  7. Fold in nuts and chocolate, pour into partially baked crust.
  8. Bake until edges set and center slightly wobbly, approx. 35–45 minutes.
  9. Cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Allow pie to cool fully to set filling for clean slices.
