Delicious Best Crockpot Chili Dog Casserole with layers of tater tots, chili, sliced beef franks, and shredded cheddar cheese. Easy to prep and perfect for a comforting meal for family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package beef franks (about 810 hot dogs, sliced into rounds)
  • 12 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 cups chili (canned or homemade)
  • 28 oz frozen tater tots (I use Ore-Ida)

Toppings (optional)

  • Sour cream
  • Green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Slice beef franks into thin rounds. Grease crockpot with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl, mix sliced hot dogs and chili to distribute evenly.
  3. Layer half of the frozen tater tots on the bottom of the crockpot. Pour half of the chili-hot dog mixture over the tots. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over this layer.
  4. Add remaining chili-hot dog mixture, sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese, and top with remaining tater tots.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 3.5 hours (up to 4 hours is fine).
  6. To serve, either transfer portions to oven-safe bowls and broil with cheese for 5-6 minutes, or spoon into toasted hot dog buns, top with cheese, sour cream, and green onions.

Notes

  • Optional toppings include sour cream and sliced green onions.
