Ingredients
Scale
1 package beef franks (about 8–10 hot dogs, sliced into rounds)
12 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
4 cups chili (canned or homemade)
28 oz frozen tater tots (I use Ore-Ida)
Toppings (optional)
Sour cream
Green onions, sliced
Instructions
Slice beef franks into thin rounds. Grease crockpot with butter or cooking spray.
In a bowl, mix sliced hot dogs and chili to distribute evenly.
Layer half of the frozen tater tots on the bottom of the crockpot. Pour half of the chili-hot dog mixture over the tots. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over this layer.
Add remaining chili-hot dog mixture, sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese, and top with remaining tater tots.
Cover and cook on low for 3.5 hours (up to 4 hours is fine).
To serve, either transfer portions to oven-safe bowls and broil with cheese for 5-6 minutes, or spoon into toasted hot dog buns, top with cheese, sour cream, and green onions.
Notes
Optional toppings include sour cream and sliced green onions.
