Creamy Herb Chicken & Basmati Rice is a comforting, flavorful dish featuring tender chicken in a rich herb cream sauce served over fluffy basmati rice. Perfect for easy weeknight dinners.

  • 2 chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed chilies
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground fennel
  • 3 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1 cup basmati rice (uncooked)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook basmati rice according to package instructions and set aside.
  2. Season chicken with paprika, cumin, oregano, chilies, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook chicken in 1 tablespoon butter for 6–8 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, melt remaining butter and sauté garlic if using.
  5. Add thyme, rosemary, basil, and fennel; cook for 1 minute.
  6. Melt cream cheese into the pan, then slowly add milk or buttermilk, stirring until smooth.
  7. Return chicken to the pan and simmer for 3–5 minutes.
  8. Serve over basmati rice.

Notes

  • Use buttermilk for a tangier flavor.
  • Do not overcrowd chicken while cooking.
  • Add rice into sauce for extra flavor absorption.
  • Adjust chili flakes for spice level.
